What is a proxy?

A proxy is like a gateway that sit between your computer and the site you want to go to. The proxy accesses the site instead of you, loads the page, and sends it on to you. So the site you’re trying to visit never sees your IP. So in effect you are visiting websites in an indirect manner. Internet filters think you are just visiting the proxy, not the site you actually want.
