How does it work?

A proxy is a kind of gateway that pass information between your computer and the site you want to go to. The proxy accesses the site instead of you, loads the page, and forwards it to you. So the site you want to be on only sees the proxy’s IP. So in effect you are browsing websites indirectly. Internet filters think you are just visiting the proxy, not the site you actually want.
