A way to bypass Bess filter?

A question from an anonymous reader:
What are the best ways to bypass the Bess filter? I’m just curious about some methods that could be used to bypass restricted sites.
Currently the browsers are set to use the local proxy 10.0.0.9:80 (the Bess proxy). When I change this value to another proxy, it doesn’t work.
